hand-drawn / sketchbook / marker / ink pen

sketchbook collection 1

Notes on progress: I’ve moved from making safe color choices to ones that are stronger but also more limited. I focus more on the composition, tone, as well as the lines and masses. I found that I enjoy making erratic marks all at once, such that some of the drawing’s parts are just shapes and others are outlines. By varying thin and thick lines, outlines and shapes, I want to explore this combination further in my sketchbook practice.

These sketches are part of MA Illustration Unit 1

I observe how realistically I usually handle situations. How would I analyze the making of this representational image?

By keeping the practice diary almost everyday, I could see how my thinking has evolved as I engage in the process of drawing: ‘through examining your practice, you question your creative assumptions in order to dismantle and deconstruct previous image-making and use of line.’ (extracted from the opening of Unit 1).
